WIP zombie modelling test

Hello!

This is the first model I created with Mudbox. It is still work in progress. The reason behind it is more about learning how to use Mudbox than creating a certain character. This one is the result of the first 3 or 4 hours.
Maybe I will post next steps here soon.

This is a private project. The movie-poster-like pictures shows my brother (r) and me (l). First I painted a blueish version but changed it to this more orange-grey action look. I did let this produce as a big photoprint and gave it to my brother as a birthday present.

Hello!

A couple of month ago I sketched down an idea of a street scene in a strange and a bit funny science fiction world - which could be on earth. Now I finalized it. It was fun to fill it up with details and refine the weird characters! I hope you like it.

Bilbo and the giant spiders

Here is a concept of a scene of "The Hobbit or There and Back Again" by J. R. R. Tolkien. It shows young Bilbo Baggins in a forest, discovering giant spiders. I tried to create very creepy spiders and a spooky atmoshere.

The Astronaut

With inquiring "eyes" the astronaut explores this planet. To the inhabitants he must be a very strange appearance. Even his heart is visible thru his transparent chest. A heart that beats faster like explorer hearts do when they first touch new ground.

A Planetary Survey

These astronauts just landed on this strange planet and encountered traces of an old civilization. Are the inhabitants still around or are they extinct by now? It seems that the astronauts also have to find a dry place to stay until the approaching downfall is over.
While you're looking at this image try to imagine the sound of wind. That is what I did when I was painting it.

Christmas Angel

This shiny christmas angel knows that it's time of the year is near. Will it bring presents or will it be fear?
Better be sure to be asleep when it will arrive.
That maybe the only possible way to survive!

It took about 7-8 hours to design and paint it. I use this opportunity to wish everyone of you nice and peaceful christmas days!

My newest image shows a monsterlike psycho who stole a woman from an alp village. He takes her into his realm in the deep and dark woods. Only the animals and the moon are witnesses.

Based on a rough scribble, I created this female hero. She's living in a future science fiction world and is the captain of a ship, maybe a space ship. Later I created

her sidekick and co-pilot, who is a pipe smoking orang-utan with superior intelligence (compared to the average orang-utan).

In The Rain

Hello!

The image shows a dramatic scene in the rain. Hard to say what is the relationship between the two characters. Maybe it's love, maybe it's hate or it's both. The way from one to the other is often very short.

Painting this was also training my skills. I hope that I did manage to show a dramatic mood and emotion. I did choose a widescreenish format to give it also a cinematic touch. I did not use any photoreference, except for the venus statue in the background.

Focke-Wulf Fw 190

Hello!

This is my first airplane picture. Talking to my neighbour, who's a pilot, I decided to give it a try. After thinking about a "Messerschmidt 109" I chose the "Focke-Wulf Fw 190". It was one of the most advanced fighter planes of it's time. I gathered some reference photos and startet to scribble a custom perspective. After several hours (over 3 days) this picture came out. The bombers in the background are shiny B-17 "Flying Fortress".

I did not include a swastika on the tail rudder of the FW-190, because it's use is forbidden in germany. To see a historical correct version just imagine it's there.

Hello!

Here is the final version of a picture I started in summer 2005. It was abandoned for a while and now I thought I should finish it.

The original intent was to make a poster showing a uboat and it's crew on the bridge. I wanted to reach a posterish look, like an old movie-poster or something. I planned to finish it earlier and then let it get signed by the original uboat-commander Erich Topp. But sadly he died in december 2005.

The original resolution is 3426x4961 pixels.

But now it's finished. I hope you like it.

Icy Conditions

Storm Island

At first I wanted to paint waves, because I like that so much. Then I added the Island (Storm Island - inspired by the movie 'the eye of the needle') and then the castaway.

The guy is injured an he can be lucky when he makes it to the island alive. Maybe he get's smashed against the rocks... let's hope not!

I made this 2 hour painting yesterday. The pictures show a place where a primitive tribe of people lives... somewhere in desert mountain canyons. The apehead could be a cultural or religious symbol.

Momentary I like to paint rough pictures that are more about light and not detail. I guess it's a phase

U-boat - destroyer approaches!

Hello!

This is the picture i was working on in the last few weeks. It shows the control room of a german type VII-C submarine of world war 2. I wanted to show a situation where the crew awaits a depth charge attack from an allied destroyer which approaches the u-boat.
The control room is painted after some reference photos I took in the last existing uboat of this type in Laboe (Germany).

The main characters are the chief engineer (left) and the commander (white hat).

U-boat - Preparing For Departure

After deciding to paint another u-boat picture, I sat down and started with a rough sketch. My goal was to create a peaceful picture with sailors preparing their u-boat for the next patrol. To finish the picture it took about 35 hours. I used a wacom board and photoshop only. I hope you enjoy it.

Here is a picture i painted in Photoshop 7 with a Wacom board.
It took about 26 hours.
It shows a german world war II submarine on the atlantic ocean. I am a fan of this submarines class (like in the movie 'DAS BOOT').
First i just wanted to paint some waves. But then i added the sub.
